- Artificial Intelligence identifying patterns in the social interaction of senior individuals through online activities at Virtual Senior University in PandemicPublication . DOMINGUES, A. M.Objectives: Data Mining techniques applied to observe patterns in the social interaction of senior individuals during their participation in the online activities that were proposed by the Virtual Senior University during the pandemic. Methodology: Zoom and Facebook platforms were used to streamline conversations, videos with student performances and homework during the COVID-19 pandemic. The experiments conducted enabled the application of the Artificial Intelligence technique called Data Mining to perform statistical analyses and identify profiles based on the social interaction of the individuals who participated in the online activities. Participants answered about Gender, Age (years), Marital Status, Time attending Senior University and Participation in online activities. They also answered about their participation in these activities, informing if it increased, decreased, remained unchanged or if they did not participate. To carry out the analyses of the collected data, age groups were organized, being 50 to 64 years, 65 to 74 years and 75 or more years. Results and Discussion: It was observed that the majority of seniors who had been attending the Virtual Senior University since before 2020, aged between 50 and 64 years, reported that their participation in online activities had increased. According to the analysis that was carried out, it was possible to correctly classify 76.087% of the data. The accuracy described through the Kappa statistic coefficient showed reliability in the data showing a score of 0.6383 and corresponding to a substantial agreement (range between 0.61 and 0.80). Conclusions: The Data Mining technique applied in this study suggests that there was statistical significance for the analyses carried out based on the social interaction of senior individuals, in the age group between 50 and 64 years old, who participated in the online activities proposed by the Virtual Senior University during the pandemic. Different activities are suggested for the other age groups.
- Assessing the Impacts of Ship Automation Using the Functional Resonance Analysis MethodPublication . Ferreira, Pedro NP
- Automatic Upload of Professional Profiles Directly from SourcesPublication . Barbosa, Rui; Martinho, Domingos; Neto, RuiGlobalization of education and employment is a fact [1]. Also, according to one International Labor Organization report [2], 6% of the world's work force was without job in 2012. Finally, a high development of information and communications technology (ICT) until 2020 is possible [3]. Why, then, should we go on using the conventional, complex, irksome, bureaucratic process of gathering our CV from often remote Sources, and share it with remote Recruiters who often don’t trust on it? Alternatively, it should be possible to solely supply our national identification to an Interface, and get, through national platforms, or else, our CV, expeditiously, and directly from those Sources; and to use it to apply to the Recruiting Entities, or to use them in internet platforms (LinkedIn, #1 Naukri, Times Jobs, Monster India, EURES, EUROPASS, Guardian’s and so). We propose a methodology, and ICT system, to upgrade the CV’s delivery to an expeditious and cheaper process.
- Bilateral comparison of forearm skin temperature during handgrip force exercisePublication . Ricardo Vardasca, PhD, ASIS, FRPSHandgrip force (HGF) test has been used to provide important occupational health information about subject’s nutritional and physiological condition. Handgrip force (average and maximum) and exercise accumulated work can be measured using a dynamometer connected to a computer, other physiological energy spent in the HGF test can be obtained with infrared thermal (IRT) imaging at the anterior forearm region. A protocol has been developed combining both measurements, showing correlations between the measured values and the degrees of similarity between bilateral limbs was assessed, varying at maximum of 1.6 ºC in the considered thermal regions of interest of the forearm. The obtained results on 13 subjects at three different endurance HGF tests showed that the procedure is reproducible and can be applied in both limbs for physiological assessments in occupational, rehabilitation or geriatric contexts.
- “CAVIIAR FOR ALL” A CASE STUDY OF AN INNOVATIVE APPLICATION FOR CATERING, TOURISM AND CULTUREPublication . Brito, Silvio; Thomaz, João; Sanchez Garcia, José; Silva, CarlosMany people think that when we want something like a product or a service it comes from a financial point of view, but what really makes businesses sustainable and growth is creativity and innovation. This paper presents a real case study that exemplifies the notion of “idea to product” of an innovative application for the information and propagation of catering, tourism and culture (caviiar.pt). This is an uninterrupted service, which is oriented to give “real time” information about catering services and regional or nearby culture and touristic points of interest. It also allows the promotion of gastronomic or cultural events with information relevant to the idea of the application. This project intends to create a new catering, touristic and cultural notion with a high level of interaction with clients and their necessities or wants, bringing to daylight a new touristic concept: “online assessment tourism”.
- COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM FESTIVALS IN THE MÉDIO TEJO REGION, PORTUGAL A POTENTIAL FOR THE SPECIALIZED CULTURAL CONSUMPTION OF CREATIVE TOURISMPublication . Carvalho, Rui; Costa, Carlos; Ferreira, Ana MariaCreative tourism is seen as an alternative to the serial reproduction of culture and the massive consumption of cultural tourism. Cultural and creative events have been highlighted as strong strategies for tourism development in creative tourism literature. Postmodern tourists seek meaningful experiences through a closer contact with local communities and act as co-creators of the overall creative tourism experience. Festivals can offer the opportunity for such phenomena in direct or indirect ways. In creative tourism both intangible and tangible cultural assets can be (re)activated for tourism purposes and creative add ups can be included in these events. Three community based tourism festivals are analyzed in reference to creative tourism literature and cultural capital theory. These events are characterized and creative strategies are suggested. By offering specialized cultural activities, this will enhance the cultural capital of participants, planners, local communities and help to differentiate tourism supply in the region. This paper aims at contributing to the research and development of creative tourism in the central region of Portugal, mainly the Médio Tejo region, which embodies thirteen municipalities in the center of the country.
- CONCEPÇÃO DE UM MODELO DE AVALIAÇÃO DO DESEMPENHO ADEQUADO À GESTÃO DOS RECURSOS HUMANOS DA SANTA CASA DA MISERICÓRDIA DA MARINHA GRANDE (PORTUGAL)Publication .
O CASO DO FESTIVAL MED DE LOULÉ, ALGARVEPublication .
