- Processo de trabalho: fundamentação para compreender os erros de enfermagemPublication . Martins, MM; Forte, Elaine Cristina Novatzki; Pires, Denise Elvira Pires; Padilha, Maria Itayra Coelho de Souza; Schneider, Dulcinéia Ghizoni; Trindade, Letícia de LimaObjective: To identify work process-related causes associated with nursing errors reported in newspapers. Method: This was a documentary and qualitative study based on the work process theory and hermeneutic analysis that examined 112 news articles published between 2012 and 2016 in 21 high-circulation Brazilian newspapers, organized and codified using Atlas.ti software. Results: The causes associated with the reported errors were associated with workforce (lack of professionals and training, turnover, work overload, lack of information, recklessness, negligence, and distraction); work instruments (similar labels or packages, storage, lack of product identification and information, and medical prescriptions); and the object of nursing work (overcrowding and specific characteristics of patient). Conclusion: Analysis of the possible causes of reported errors identified the negative outcomes of nursing work, while also identifying elements of the work process that influenced these results. The findings emphasize the importance of understanding these errors so they can be avoided and of reviewing nursing work conditions to guarantee quality and safety of care.

Data were collected in December 2015 in CINAHL and MEDLINE databases. Results: Four main themes were identified from the analysis of the 17 articles included in this study: nursing professional practice models; elements of nursing professional practice models; benefits of nursing professional practice models, and development, implementation and evaluation of nursing professional practice models. Conclusion: The results show that the development and implementation of nursing professional practice models represent significant challenges that, once achieved, will provide the basis for excellence in nursing practice.
- Olhares sobre o ensino de enfermagem em PortugalPublication . Ribeiro, Olga; Martins, MM; Carvalho, António Luís; Santos, Luísa Maria Marques Marinho; Viana, Maria de Fátima RochaObjective: to understand nurses’ perception of hospital care about nursing education. Methods: a qualitative study was carried out in 19 hospital institutions, with 56 nurses. For the data collection, the semi-structured interview was used and, in the analysis, the Atlas.ti® software. Results: these aspects emerged as units of analysis: positive and negative aspects of nursing teaching in a theoretical context; and positive and negative aspects of nursing teaching in a practical context. The perception of nurses about nursing education is essentially related to the existence of much diversified training processes. Conclusion: despite the evolution of nursing as a discipline and profession, nurses recognize that many of the weaknesses in nursing education are based on the differences between nursing schools, and the need for a closer approximation of theory to practice is evident, among other strategies, the follow-up of the students during the internships by the teachers of the School.
- Escala de avaliação dos ambientes da prática profissional de enfermagem: construção e validação de conteúdoPublication . Ribeiro, Olga; Vicente, Corália Maria Fortuna de Brito; Martins, MM; Trindade, Letícia De Lima; Sousa, Clemente Neves; Cardoso, Maria Filomena Passos TeixeiraObjective: to construct and validate the content of the Assessment Scale of Nursing Professional Practice Environments. Method: methodological study conducted from January to May 2020. The construction of the Scale after a previous qualitative research and literature review. Content validation was performed by 22 experts. Results: initially, the Scale had 128 items grouped in the dimensions structure, process and outcome. Due to the experts’ evaluation, in the structure dimension, the 65 initial items, 20 were excluded, 10 were reformulated and one, added. In the process dimension, of the 49 initial items, 8 were excluded and 2 were reformulated. In the outcome dimension, of the 14 initial items, 2 were excluded, 2 reformulated and added 1. The final version contained 100 items, in which the Content Validity Index of each item fluctuated between 0.86 and 1. Conclusion: the construction and subsequent validation of the items by the experts was a fundamental step, giving security to the continuity of psychometric procedures.
- Consensus on scales for an interdisciplinary health assessment tool for the elderly populationPublication . Monteiro, Maria Clara Duarte; Martins, MM; Schoeller, Soraia DornellesObjective: to describe the consensus of the content of an instrument for assessing interdisciplinary health care of the elderly population. Methods: consensus study conducted among physicians, nurses, and social workers, contemplating the construction of instrument and the pre-test for selection of scales for use in practice. Questionnaire consisting of questions that identified representative scales in the assessment of the elderly. The scales that obtained consensus criterion of equal to or greater than 75% were considered selected by the experts. Sample was composed through snowball sampling, resulting in 101 participants. Results: of the 13 scales submitted, the professionals indicated that eight were suitable for use and two were already applied within their practice. The excluded became part of the recommendations for good practices in elderly care. A discrepancy was identified between what they consider to be useful and of interest versus what is applied in practice. Conclusion: consensus among experts allowed us to identify and select interdisciplinary assessment data for a proposed instrument to support the care process. Contributions to practice: this contributes to awareness about the use of recommended scales for the elderly and to avoid the overlapping of the same interventions by several professionals, with significant gains for this population.
- Instruments for assessing professional nursing practice environments: An integrative reviewPublication . Ribeiro, Olga; Vicente, Corália Maria Fortuna de Brito; Martins, MM; Vandresen, Lara; Silva, João Miguel Almeida Ventura daObjective: To identify the instruments used to evaluate the professional nursing practice environments in the hospital context. Method: An integrative review, whose research process was conducted independently by two researchers in the period from July to August 2019 in the CINHAL, PubMed and SciELO databases. Results: Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 53 studies published between 2009 and 2019 were considered for analysis. Ten instruments and three thematic areas were identified: instruments for the assessment of the nursing professional practice environments; implications of the use of instruments for the assessment of nursing professional practice environments; limitations of the instruments for the assessment of nursing professional practice environments. Conclusion: Despite the relevance of the instruments identified, this integrative review provides contributions that support the need to use specific tools to assess the nursing practice environments that include the structure, process and outcome components.
- Construção e validação de instrumento de percepção do trabalho do gestorPublication . Martins, MM; Gonçalves, Maria Narcisa; Teles, Paulo; Bernardino, Elizabeth; Guerra, Nelson; Ribeiro, OlgaObjective: to describe the process of building and validating a scale for measuring the perception of the work done by nurse managers. - Elderly people with limited mobility: their families and the implications of their dependencyPublication . Pimenta, Susana Elisabete; Martins, MM; Monteiro, Clara; Reis Santos, Margarida; Martinho, JúliaINTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES. The family has su'ered several changes throughout the times, leading to many elderly people living alone or with other elderly. In a family the situation of the elderly that depended on others can compromise the family’s relationships, which leads to little availability to motivate them to mobilization. The objective of the study was to understand the way the family functions in view of to the dependence of the elderly with limited mobility in a community context. METHODOLOGY. Descriptive study, exploratory of a quantitive character. The data was gathered through a questionnaire, including the Lawton & Brody (1969) scales, the lifestyle pro+le (Nahas, 2013) and the familiar APGAR (Smilkstein, 1978). Nonprobabilistic sample, composed by 1298 elderly with limited mobility, from 26 civil parishes from the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. Most of the people polled considered that his own family was a functional one (64.8%) and 49.6% were moderately dependent. By analysing the physical activity lifestyle pro+le and the familiar functionality one could conclude that 65.2% had a positive pro+le, presenting typical behaviours of an active lifestyle. We think that the fact that 73.1% are inserted in functional families had something to do with it. We have veri+ed a perfect association (p = 0.000) between dependency, lifestyle physical activity and familiar functionality – APGAR. CONCLUSIONS: The results show that the family determines the lifestyle physical activity and the elderly’s dependency. A functional family in
