Barrdas, Filomena; Guimarães, Adriana; Cardoso, Luís; Mendes, Teresa; Henriques, Luís; Oliveira, Teresa; Instituto Politecnico de PortalegreEm 2021, o IV Congresso Internacional de Cultura Lusófona Contemporânea (CICLC 2020) uniu-se às celebrações do 25o aniversário da licenciatura em Jornalismo e Comunicação da Escola Superior de Educação e Ciências Sociais / Instituto Politécnico de Portalegre (ESECS/IPP), ao escolher como tema a crónica. Etimologicamente derivada de chronos – tempo -, a crónica confundiu-se com a historiografia até ao século XIX, quando a expansão da imprensa e do jornalismo a reinventam e a fazem renascer com a feição que hoje lhe conhecemos. Ao afirmar que a “crónica é como que a conversa íntima, indolente, desleixada, do jornal com os que o leem”, Eça de Queirós cunha, no Distrito d’ Évora (1867), uma das primeiras definições da crónica moderna. Antes, Machado de Assis (1859) atribuíra ao folhetinista, o antecessor imediato do cronista moderno, a capacidade da “fusão admirável do útil e do fútil”. Contemporaneamente, o termo “crónica” parece ser um termo guarda-chuva, que recobre uma panóplia de curtos textos de autor, cuja divulgação é feita através dos media, mas cujos objetivos e funções são muito diversas. Assim, a crónica é opinião e argumentação; é comentário da atualidade; é esclarecimento; é divertimento; é relato; é exercício literário; é experimentação artística; é séria; é divertida; informa; ensina; convence; é esquecida; é lembrada. Não admira que, face à plasticidade que manifesta, a crónica continue a ser um problema para os seus cultores. Manuel António Pina, por exemplo, numa das suas crónicas interroga-se: “E o que é isto de crónicas? Se me perguntam (...) não sei o que é, se me não me perguntam, sei”. António Lobo Antunes chama-lhes “prosinhas”, “literatura alimentar”, lamentando que a escrita da crónica lhe roube tempo da escrita do livro, essa tarefa maior do escritor. Também no espaço lusófono se acumulam exemplos de cronistas consagrados. Machado de Assis, Clarice Lispector, Rubem Braga, Luís Fernando Veríssimo, no Brasil; José Eduardo Agualusa em Angola; Mia Couto em Moçambique são apenas alguns dos nomes que podem ser apresentados como exemplo de cronistas. A notoriedade da forma, atestada pela sua prevalência nos media tradicionais, pela migração da forma para plataformas online, a par da fortuna que goza no mercado editorial, parece ir ao encontro de uma nova máxima popular: a lusofonia é uma nação de cronistas.

Emotional intelligence skills shape values and behaviours, making them essential for creating a positive and inclusive organizational climate. Integrating emotional intelligence into development programs in higher education helps foster key skills such as effective communication and conflict resolution. This approach not only strengthens the organizational capacity of higher education institutions but also creates an environment that promotes inclusion and equity. The aim was to create a space for reflection for higher education leaders and managers, highlighting emotional intelligence as the foundation for strengthening organizational culture and enhancing strategic management. Several proposals for implementing emotional intelligence are presented, aiming not only to strengthen the institution as a whole but also to promote a healthy and productive work environment for all involved.

- Plan Time Management in School Activities and Relation to Procrastination: A Study for Educational SustainabilityPublication . Valente, Sabina; Dominguez Lara, Sergio Alexis; Lourenço, Abílio AfonsoAcademic procrastination, more than merely postponing tasks, represents a significant failure in the self-regulation process of learning. Research on study skills highlights academic time management as one of the crucial elements of learning strategies and sustainable education. These abilities will help achieve the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals. Therefore, this study aimed to understand how students plan time management in school activities and its influence on study procrastination, analyzing differences between genders and the hours students spend studying. The Time Management Planning Inventory, the Study Procrastination Questionnaire, and a personal and school data sheet were used. A sample of 506 students (Mage = 13.7) from basic schools in northern Portugal was utilized. The results revealed that gender and study hours significantly influence how students plan time management for school tasks in the short and long term. These variables also showed a significant impact on the procrastination of study activities. The practical implications of this study are substantial, as they provide educators and researchers with insights into the factors influencing academic procrastination and the role of time management planning and study hours. These insights can be applied to develop effective strategies to reduce academic procrastination and promote sustainable education.
