Abstract(s)
O quadro legal existente assume neste contexto particular importância.
The impact of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is reinforced in the Armed Forces (AF) due to the specific nature of their mission. The existing legal framework is relevant in this context. However, its application in the military has been limited compared to civilian organisations in other sectors of activity. In this context, the aim of this study is to propose contributions to the application of the general OSH legal regime in the AF. The research was carried out using a qualitative strategy, inductive reasoning, and the application to a case study. The object of study was the OSH in the AF. Documentary analysis and interviews were used to assess the importance of a safe and healthy environment, the application of the OSH regulatory framework and the adequacy of the contributory factors for the application of the general legal OSH regime in the AF. The following contributions were determined sequentially: the adoption of Portuguese Standard 45001 as a reference for the branches OSH Management Systems; the articulation of Occupational Medicine with the OSH, the hiring of Occupational Physicians and the training of Senior Technicians and Occupational Safety Technicians by the AF.
