- Developing a Commercial Ethics Framework for Analysing Marketing CampaignsPublication . Santos, Vasco; Martinho, DomingosThis study integrates the relationship of business ethics in marketing campaigns and the importance of the repercussion on organizational performance with the aim of creating a guide of business ethics in marketing campaigns for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This guide allows SMEs to analyse their ethical dimension as well as to raise awareness and instill commercial ethics actions in the marketing campaign common practices in organisations. The qualitative methodology has been applied, and the proposed theoretical model uses a set of dimensions of ethics, commercial ethics, codes of conduct, marketing, and marketing campaigns to analyse the relationship of commercial ethics with marketing campaigns and its influence on organisations. The result demonstrates the influence of commercial ethics on advertising actions that, when applied positively, enable and promote the brand image, thus contributing to the organizational performance.

- Cloud computing for big data analytics How cloud computing can handle procesing large amounts of data and improve real-time data analyticsPublication . Galego, Nuno Miguel Carvalho; Martinho, Domingos; Duarte, NelsonWith the increasing volume, velocity, and variety of data generated by various sources, big data has become a critical challenge for many organizations. Cloud computing provides an efficient and cost-effective solution to address the challenges of big data analysis. In this paper, we review the state-of-the-art cloud computing technologies for big data analysis, including cloud storage, cloud computing platforms, and cloud-based big data analytics tools. We also identify the major challenges and solutions for cloud-based big data Innovation.
- Easy-Programming: towards a web collaborating algorithmic and programming aid for early apprenticesPublication . Ricardo Vardasca, PhD, ASIS, FRPS; TERESO, MARCO; Bento, Fernando; Martinho, DomingosScience, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) under graduate students must develop problem solving skills through algorithmic and programming learning. There are several tools available to aid them in this pro cess but none in a web collaborative environment that can be used for e learning accommodating the three methods available for that development: code, flowchart, and pseudocode. It is aim of this research to outline the exist ing tools and their features, and to propose a new web based collaborative tool accommodating the main features found. An architecture, technological infra structure, database structure, requirements definition, UML use case and class diagrams and a user interface were proposed. New STEM undergraduate stu dents can develop a solid foundation in algorithmic thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with others, establishing the foundations for their success in specific fields.
- Performance Evaluation of Information Systems in Portuguese MunicipalitiesPublication . Pratas, Antonio; Sobreiro, Pedro; Martinho, DomingosThe success of organizations increasingly depends on the performance of their information systems, and public bodies are no exception. If the service provided to all of us, as citizens, depends on this performance, then it is essential that we can evaluate it. This research evaluates the performance of information sys tems in the Portuguese municipalities, applying the DeLone and McLean model, which is based on the perceptions of the systems’ users. The research is based on a self-administered questionnaire to a representative sample of Portuguese munici palities employees. The six dimensions of the model were: system quality, infor mation quality, service quality, utilization, user satisfaction and impacts. A seventh dimension - demographics - and its relationship with the original model were also analyzed. The results show that DeLone and McLean model is suitable for the Por tuguese municipalities context, and it was concluded that the system quality and information quality dimensions have a major effect on user satisfaction and inten tion to use/use, respectively. It was also found that the user satisfaction dimension has a strong effect, and the intention to use/use dimension has a moderate effect on Impacts. These results provide relevant information for decision-making related to the evolution of information systems in Portuguese municipalities, showing the importance of investing in the systems quality and the quality of the information produced.
