dc.description.abstractCom o fim da Primeira Guerra Mundial e a partir do décimo quarto dos catorze Célebres Pontos do presidente norte-americano Woodrow Wilson, que embasaram o armistício de 1918, surgiu a Liga das Nações. Tal entidade pretendia transformar o delineamento das relações internacionais construído até então e, desta forma, fomentar a paz mundial e acautelar a recorrência dos desentendimentos que promoveram a mortandade naquela recente contenda em solo europeu. Sua declaração foi subscrita por 44 países, dentre os quais não se incluem os Estados Unidos. Inserido no escopo dos estudos de conflitos e sistemas de segurança, esta pesquisa tem por objetivo apreciar em que medida foi participação brasileira na Liga, bem como a atuação da atividade política daquele organismo na resolução e arbitramento de disputas territoriais, seus êxitos e óbices. A abordagem ao tema foi interdisciplinar, sendo realizada sob a ótica do institucionalismo histórico, valendose de contribuições das áreas do saber da história militar, ciência política, ciências militares e relações internacionais. Verificou-se o processo evolutivo do organismo, a transformação da conjuntura global e a forma como as sociedades competiam no espaço internacional, que levaram a sua autodissolução, em 1946, e à transferência das responsabilidades para a recém-criada Organização das Nações Unidas.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractWith the end of the First World War and from the fourteenth of the Fourteen Points of American president Woodrow Wilson, that supported the armistice of 1918, the League of Nations was established. Such an entity intended to transform the design of international relations built so far, and thus, foster world peace and safeguard the recurrence of misunderstandings that promoted the killing in that recent contest on European ground. Its statement was signed by 44 countries, among which was not included the United States. Inserted in the scope of conflict studies and security systems, this research aims to assess the extent of the Brazilian participation in the League, as well as the role of political activity in the resolution and arbitration of territorial disputes, its successes and obstacles. The interdisciplinary approach to the topic was conducted from the perspective of historical institutionalism, drawing on contributions from the knowledge areas of military history, political science, military science and international relations. The evolutionary process of the institution was noticed, the transformation of the global environment and how societies competed in the international space, which led to its self-dissolution in 1946, and the transfer of responsibilities to the newly created United Nations.
