Atualmente as escolas secundárias debatem-se com profundas alterações a nível administrativo e educacional, que determinam uma crescente preocupação com a Ima-gem dos estabelecimentos de ensino e com a escolha da escola, ou seja, com o "mercado de concorrência" das escolas. Esta realidade obriga as organizações escolares a refletir sobre a sua cultura organizacional e sobre a Imagem percecionada pelos alunos que fre-quentam ou que pretendem frequentar os estabelecimentos de ensino. Nesta ordem de preocupações, este estudo aborda a "Imagem Social de Escola: Imagem Externa e Ima-gem Interna, na perspetiva dos alunos", tendo sido escolhido o caso da Escola Artística António Arroio.
Para a concretização deste estudo, foi elaborado um questionário dirigido quer aos alunos que se matricularam na escola no ano letivo de 2011/2012, quer aos que fre-quentaram no mesmo ano letivo, o 12º ano de escolaridade. No primeiro caso preten-deu-se ter uma perceção da Imagem Externa da Escola e no segundo da Imagem Inter-na, e de bem como de quais os fatores, que os levaram à escolha desta escola.
Após análise e interpretação dos dados apurados, verificou-se que a Imagem Externa não corresponde à Imagem Interna, apenas convergem no que diz respeito aos cursos e perspetivas profissionais. Os fatores que levaram os alunos a escolher a escola, é semelhante em todos os inquiridos; Cursos e perspetivas profissionais.
Secondary schools struggle nowadays with profound administrative and educa-tional changes that determine an increasing concern with the image of schools and school choice, ie, the "market competition" between schools. This reality forces school organizations to reflect on their organizational culture and how they are seen by stu-dents attending or wishing to attend a certain school. Following these concerns, this study addresses the "Social school image”: External and Internal Image on the students perspective", in a Portuguese Arts school in Lisbon – Escola Artística António Arroio. A questionnaire focusing on these questions was designed and given to both students who enrolled in the school for the first time (10th grade) during the school year 2011/2012, and those who during the same school year, attended the 12th grade. The goal was to analyze the younger students’ External Image of the school, and which fac-tors led them to choose this specific school. The questionnaire given to the older stu-dents who have attended this school for three years aims to analyze their internal Image of school. The data collected showed that the External Image and Internal image of the school match only in what concerns the areas of study and future careers, which are also the main reason why the students have chosen to attend this school.
