- Tecnologia educacional na gestão de cuidados: perfil tecnológico de enfermeiros de hospitais portuguesesPublication . Lumini Landeiro, Maria José; Freire, R.M.A.; Martins, MM; Martins, Teresa; Peres, Helena CiquetoObjective: To identify the technological profile of nurses in Portuguese hospitals. Method: A quantitative exploratory study conducted in two hospitals in the northern region and one in the central region of Portugal. The sample was randomly selected and included 960 nurses. Results: Of the participants, 420 (46.1%) used computers, 196 (23.4%) reported having knowledge about using computers for teaching, 174 (21.1%) used computers to teach, 112 (15.1%) recognized that using computers can be a technological means to supplement classroom training, 477 (61.6%) would like to receive training on using computers, and 382 (40.9%) reported self-learning of information technology. In relation to distance education, 706 (74.9%) reported they were familiar with it and 752 (76.4%) indicated an interest in participating in training using this modality. Conclusion: Organizations should be mindful of the technological profile shown by this group of nurses and look for ways to introduce educational technologies in the management of care.

Lumini Landeiro, Maria José; Freire, R.M.A.; Martins, MM; Martins, Teresa; Peres, Heloísa Helena CiquetoObjectives: to acknowledge and compare the health promotion and complications’ prevention practices performed by nurses working in hospital and primary health care contexts. Methods: descriptive, exploratory and crosscutting study, performed with 474 nurses selected by convenience sampling. It was used a form that encompassed two categories of descriptive statements about quality in the professional exercise of nurses. This study had ethical committee approval. Results: the nurses’ population was mainly women (87,3%) with an average age of 35,5 years. There was more practices of the hospital’s nurses related to the identification of potential problems of the patient (p=0.001) and supervision of the activities that put in place the nursing interventions and the activities that they delegate (p=0.003). Conclusion: the nurses perform health promotion and complications’ prevention activities, however not in a systematic fashion and professional practices differ by context. This study is relevant as it may promote the critical consciousness of the nurses about the need of stressing quality practices.
