- Compras Conjuntas Inter-Ramos Vantagens e InconvenientesPublication . Abstract: The objective of this research is to understand the advantages and disadvantages that an integrated solution of 7,62 mm and 9 mm ammunition acquisition, can bring to the Armed Forces. In this way it is intended that through the analysis of legislation, specialty books and using primary sources to understand how should a centralized military equipment buying process be conducted, who should be the coordinating entity at the light of national legislation and what are the advantages and disadvantages that this process can bring to the institutions under review and to the markets. This study after an analysis and understanding of the law and of the methodology used by the Armed Forces for the development of a purchasing process of 7,62 mm and 9 mm ammunition came to identify that the entity who presents to have better conditions for developing a centralized process, is the General Direction of National Defense Resources. Being that, this solution can bring as its main advantage to the State the financial benefits, and main disadvantages the loss of sovereignty of the Armed Forces branches, for depending on a third party, and the possible disagreement between them at the priority definition and budget distribution.
- A decade of neonaticides in the greater Lisbon areaPublication . Câmara, Catarina Klut; Graça, Olindina; Costa, Tiago; Costa Santos, JorgeNeonaticide is the homicide of a child by a parent during the first 24 hours of life. The goal of this paper is to characterize cases of neonaticide that have occurred in the Great Lisbon area. The clinical files of all neonaticide cases that were studied at the Delegação do Sul, Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal e Ciências Forenses (INMLCF, IP), between January, 1st 2001 and December 31st 2010 were reviewed and analyzed. Five cases of neonaticide were identified (2.96 per 100000 live births), perpetrated by five mothers with an average age of 25 years, whose main motivation was unwanted pregnancy. The pregnancies were concealed, no pre-natal care was obtained and delivery was unassisted and occurred at home. There were no cases of mental disorders that could justify, under a medico-legal point of view, a decision of not guilty by reason of insanity. Although rare, neonaticide cases affect societies and raise forensic questions. Due to its lower association with major psychopathology, low careseeking behavior, opportunities for prevention are reduced. Therefore, the early detection of pregnancy in women of fertile age may provide a valuable chance to offer the required support.
- Intervention Programs for First-Episode Psychosis: A Scoping Review ProtocolPublication . Gouveia, Marta; Costa, Tiago; Morgado, Tânia; Sampaio, Francisco; Rosa, Amorim; Sequeira, CarlosEarly intervention programs for first-episode psychosis aim to intervene in the early stages of the disease. They are essential to prevent and delay the progression of the illness to a more advanced stage, but information about their characteristics is not systematized. The scoping review considered all studies of first-episode psychosis intervention programs, regardless of their context (hospital or community), and explored their characteristics. The scoping review was developed according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The PCC mnemonic (population, concept, and context) addressed research questions, the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the search strategy. The scoping review sought to identify the literature that meets the predefined inclusion criteria. The research was conducted in the following databases: Web of Science Core Collection, MEDLINE, CINAHL Complete and PsycINFO, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and JBI Evidence Synthesis. The search for unpublished studies included OpenGrey (a European repository) and MedNar. It used sources in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French. It included quantitative, qualitative, and multi-method/mixed methods studies. It also considered gray or unpublished literature. After removing duplicates, two independent reviewers extracted the relevant information after selecting the articles. If there were disagreements, a third reviewer was used. The researchers have developed a tool based on the JBI model that will allow them to extract the relevant information for the review. The results are presented schematically in narratives and tables. This scoping review maps first-episode psychosis intervention programs by identifying their characteristics, participants, and specific implementation contexts and allows researchers to create multicomponent programs tailored to different contexts.
- Positive Mental Health in University Students and Its Relations with Psychological Vulnerability, Mental Health Literacy, and Sociodemographic Characteristics: A Descriptive Correlational StudyPublication . Teixeira, Sónia; Ferré-Grau, Carme; Canut, Teresa Lluch; Pires, Regina; Carvalho, José Carlos; Carvalho Ribeiro, Isilda Maria Oliveira; Sequeira, Carolina; Ferreira, Teresa de Jesus Rodrigues; Sampaio, Francisco; Costa, Tiago; Sequeira, CarlosAbstract: This study aimed to evaluate positive mental health (PMH) and its relation with sociodemographic characteristics, mental health literacy, and the psychological vulnerability scale (PVS) in Portuguese university students aged 17 to 62. A descriptive correlational study was carried out. An online survey was conducted to evaluate demographic variables, and several questionnaires were applied to evaluate positive mental health, psychological vulnerability, and mental health literacy. The data was collected from 1 November 2019 to 1 September 2020. Overall, 3405 students participated in the study. The results show that 67.8% of students revealed a high level of PMH, 31.6% presented a medium level of PMH, and 0.6% had a low level of PMH. Male students reported higher personal satisfaction (t (3170) = 2.39, p = 0.017) and autonomy (t (3170) = 3.33, p = 0.001) in PMH compared to female students. Students without a scholarship scored higher (t (3127) = 2.04, p = 0.42) in PMH than students who held a scholarship. Students who were not displaced from their home reported higher (t (3170) = 1.99, p = 0.047) self-control in PMH than those displaced from their home. University students with higher PMH results had lower PVS results and higher literacy results. The findings of this study will contribute to identifying students’ PMH intervention needs.
