A Vespa velutina nigrithorax é uma espécie exótica invasora originária do sudoeste asiático, que, terá sido introduzida, acidentalmente, na Europa, durante a primeira década deste século. Chegando à região norte de Portugal no início da segunda década, tem-se expandido para sul, causando evidentes danos. Deixa para trás um rasto de destruição, especialmente nas colónias de abelhas melíferas, causando ainda impactos negativos na biodiversidade e nos serviços ecossistémicos.Esta espécie surge no concelho de Ourém em 2017 e tem aumentado anualmente o número de casos, indicando uma continua proliferação significativa da espécie. Tem sido monitorizada ativamente, fruto da colaboração da comunidade local no report de avistamentos e localização dos ninhos de Vespa velutina nigrithorax.O propósito deste trabalho, é a elaboração de uma proposta de plano de gestão da Vespa velutina nigrithorax no concelho de Ourém, por forma a diminuir significativamente a presença deste inseto exótico invasor.O Cidadão, consciente, informado, e participativo, é uma das melhores estratégias para manter em níveis aceitáveis a Vespa velutina nigrithorax.
The Vespa velutina nigrithorax is an invasive exotic species native to Southwest Asia, which was accidentally introduced to Europe during the first decade of this century. Having reached the northern region of Portugal at the beginning of the second decade, it has since expanded southward, causing evident damage. It leaves a trail of destruction, particularly in honeybee colonies, and also negatively impacts biodiversity and ecosystem services.This species appeared in the municipality of Ourém in 2017, and the number of cases has been increasing annually, indicating a continuous significant proliferation. It has been actively monitored, thanks to the collaboration of the local community in reporting sightings and locating nests of Vespa velutina nigrithorax.The purpose of this work is the elaboration of a proposal for a management plan for Vespa velutina nigrithorax in the municipality of Ourém, in order to significantly reduce the presence of this invasive exotic insect.The Citizen, conscious, informed, and participative, is one of the best strategies to keep Vespa velutina nigrithorax at acceptable levels.
