Abstract(s)
This dissertation analyzes the role of the hospital intranet as a strategic tool for promoting organizational communication, motivating healthcare professionals, and enhancing the quality of services provided. In a context where efficiency, safety, and the humanization of care are priorities in healthcare systems, the study explores how the intranet can contribute to more collaborative and effective work environments. Using a mixedmethods approach, a quantitative questionnaire and qualitative interviews were conducted with professionals from different departments in a Portuguese hospital. The results show that, although the intranet is recognized as useful for accessing institutional applications and documents, there are significant limitations in its usability, maintenance, navigation structure, and alignment with users’ real needs. It was also found that a well-designed intranet can increase efficiency, reduce stress, and contribute to a greater sense of professional value. The study proposes concrete improvements to the intranet, particularly in communication segmentation and the integration of recognition and training features. It is concluded that, when properly designed, the intranet has the potential to strengthen the motivation of healthcare professionals and contribute to the continuous improvement of care quality.
