dc.description.abstract	O envelhecimento da população e o aparecimento acentuado de doenças crónicas têm sido um problema marcante da nossa sociedade, pois são factores que modificam a procura de cuidados de saúde, não conduzindo sempre ao internamento prolongado numa instituição, mas sim ao seu regresso a casa onde permanecem muitas vezes sozinhos. Esta situação é também decorrente das mudanças na estrutura tradicional familiar das quais salientamos a emancipação da mulher e a redução do núcleo familiar. A participação activa da família no cuidar reveste-se hoje de grande importância, garantindo assim uma maior qualidade de vida dos seus familiares idosos. O objectivo deste estudo é identificar se o tipo de família e o momento do ciclo vital influenciam a aceitação a alta do idoso por parte da família. A amostra foi constituída por 40 idosos internados num serviço de medicina e seus familiares. Da análise dos dados verificamos que o suporte familiar parece permanecer no regresso do idoso a casa, 40% dos familiares prevê dificuldades no acompanhamento e 52,5% desconhece as necessidades do idoso. Embora a maioria dos familiares esteja disponível para ajudar o doente, estes podem experimentar grande ansiedade já que não sabem como fazê-lo. A maioria dos doentes (37,5%) faz parte de uma família alargada, enquanto 27,5% pertence a uma família nuclear tradicional. Quanto à etapa do ciclo vital, quase metade dos doentes está a viver o momento do ciclo vital da família referente à partida de um dos conjugues (44%) e 37% vivem em situação de partida dos filhos. Em síntese, verificamos que a aceitação da alta por parte da família está associada ao ciclo vital desta. Quanto ao tipo de família percepcionada pela família, esta não apresenta associação estatisticamente significativa com a aceitação da alta. A estrutura familiar do idoso continua a ser o pilar no cuidar deste.	pt_PT
dc.description.abstract	The aging population and the marked appearance of chronic diseases have been a remarkable problem in our society because they are factors that modify the demand for health care, not always leading to prolonged hospitalization in an institution, but to return home where many remain times alone. This is also a result of changes in traditional family structure of which emphasize the empowerment of women and the reduction of the nuclear family. The active participation of families in the care takes is of great importance today, thus ensuring a better quality of life of their elderly relatives. The purpose of this study is to identify the type and timing of family life cycle influence the acceptance of high elderly by the family. The sample consisted of 40 elderly inpatients on a medicine hospital service and their families. From the data analysis found that family support seems to remain in the return of the old house, 40% of family difficulties in monitoring and provides 52.5% unaware of the needs of the elderly. Although most family members are available to help the patient, they may experience great anxiety because they do not know how to do it. Most patients (37.5%) is part of an extended family, while 27.5% belongs to a traditional nuclear family. As for the stage of the life cycle, nearly half of patients are living in the moment of family life cycle on the departure of one of the spouses (44%) and 37% live on the departure of children. In summary, we found that the high acceptance by the family is associated with this lifecycle. Regarding the type of perceived family by family, this presents no statistically significant association with high acceptance. The family structure of the elderly remains the mainstay in the care of this.	pt_PT
