Abstract(s)
This research, inserted in the final report of the Master Degree in Pre-school Education and Primary School Teaching focuses on understanding the difficulties in spelling experienced by students in the second grade of basic education. The methodology adopted for this research is based on a research model for action research, consisting of a sequential process, composed by four phases: planning, action, observation and reflection. The study has as main objectives to promote the spelling consolidation, calling for reflection on how the words are written according the spelling rules, developing the ability to concentrate, where the child should think, read and write as it is requested and describe and analyze the spelling mistakes found in the writing of children. One purpose of this study was to try to understand how the practice of writing activities would contribute so that students would improve their writing skills in relation to misspelling individually. To develop this study, it was essential the participation of a class in study and the researcher. The data required for this research were collected through naturalistic observation by the researcher, the textual productions and other records written by the students. Content analyzes were prepared to naturalistic observations, productions of students and categorization errors. Thus, it was possible not only to identify, categorize your spelling mistakes, but above all understand its causes.
