Abstract(s)
In this implementation project the main purpose is to demonstrate the improvements introduced with the use of a computer application to support the logistics management of capillary distribution of a food company. The company Nobre, after a structural analysis of the reality of the operation, realized that it had several flaws and inefficiencies that would have to be addressed. The application in question arises in the course of the evolution of technologies, which are increasingly a strong support in the introduction of process improvements throughout the supply chain, as well as one of the bases for the introduction of the sustainability factor of organizations (Ranieri et al., 2018). We will demonstrate the impact of technology on capillary distribution, hereinafter referred to as "Last Mile distribution", where it will be possible to measure the improvements introduced in the process, both in terms of cost reduction and operating time, as well as in the control of incidents, substantially reducing the reaction time of the Customer Service in detected non-conformities. This project is divided into 4 main points: Route planning model of the company before the installation of the IT application, presentation of the IT application, description of the implementation of the new planning model and organizational restructuring of the transport department and description of the results obtained after the installation of the IT application. At the end, we will verify how new technologies impact and contribute to increasing the efficiency of capillary distribution and put companies on the right path towards sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint.
