Abstract(s)
The criminal investigation is now one of the great pillars of the public security police's actions, whose agents must have a set of predicates that allow them to achieve professional excellence, particularly in scenarios of heinous crimes that embody traumatic situations that often face each other. The theoretical review allowed us to determine that, in their work context, these professionals deal with multiple situations that can provoke in them various physical and/or psychological reactions. Recognizing this fact and seeking to deepen it, we focus on our study on the impact that contact with traumatic cases can represent on life of police forces, specifically those of those who are part of the Criminal Investigation Brigades for domestic violence crimes. Therefore, the objectives of the study are to analyze the risks that arise from the interrelationship developed between investigator and victim during the investigation process, as well as to value the existence of predisposition factors considered at risk when associated with compassion fatigue, a phenomenon that largely affects so-called first-line professionals. In addition to pointing out causes and consequences of the phenomenon, we try to list resilience factors and point out a set of strategies to prevent this type of disorders in agents.
