Abstract(s)
Shortly after the figure of eight billion people inhabiting planet Earth was reached, it can be said that demographic growth is a major problem worldwide today. Add to this the fact that average life expectancy is increasing due to advances in medicine and improvements in living conditions, and we realise that a bigger problem is affecting the world's population: ageing. The extremely hectic and busy lives of today's working population mean that there is very little time to spend with parents, grandparents, other relatives, or friends in older age. This reality was confirmed during the surveys carried out during the study, which involved a few dozen users from two institutions. Thus, based on the figures obtained during the study, it was concluded that there is a great sense of isolation on the part of the elderly. The result of this research is the development of a prototype of an application, to be implemented initially at local level with the support of a parish council, which will make it possible to mitigate the sense of isolation and loneliness that the elderly population may feel. An application that makes it easy to contact friends and family, as well as the possibility of contacting various services, such as local social support, security agents (PSP or GNR), medical and nursing services, municipal services, local shops, and local restaurants that have a home delivery service. The aim of developing this prototype was to create a tool that could make the lives of the elderly more integrated into the active life of the community, make their day-to-day lives easier and reduce the feeling of isolation by facilitating contact with people and services close to their reality.
