This final report was developed during the curricular internship of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, in the 2023/2024 school year, within the scope of the curricular unit of Education Practice I of the Master´s Degree in Teaching in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and History and Geography of Portugal in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education. The class teacher´s interest in the Carnation Revolution and the students´ lack of knowledge about this topic motivated this research. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to understand how an interdisciplinary work based on Ana Mark´s book, Avó, onde é que estavas no 25 de abril?, contributes to 1st grade students understanding of the significance of April 25th, 1974. To this end, three specific objectives were defined: to identify the students´ prior knowledge about April 25th; to address the topic based on the aforementioned book, promoting interdisciplinary moments; and to evaluate the students´ knowledge after the approach. This study adopted the assumptions of a mixed-methods research associated with an action research methodology. For data collection, both quantitative instruments, such as a questionnaire survey, and qualitative instruments, such as participant observation with audiovisual records and document analysis, were used. The results reveal a positive development in the students´ knowledge of April 25th, evidenced by an enrichment of vocabulary and more accurate representation of the event after the intervention, reflecting a more solid understanding of its historical significance and the values associated with it.
