Abstract(s)
With the improvement in the population's lifestyle, the technological advances, and the changes arising from the covid-19 pandemic, organizations are being forced to change the way they manage their human resources in order to gain competitive advantage in the market. Concerning events management in the hospitality field, there is a lack of consistency and accuracy in the nomenclatures used, the tasks and functions that are executed by each position, and both the general and specific skills required. This research is focused on identifying the profile of the professionals who manage events in the hospitality area. The investigation was based on the clarification and characterization of the event concepts and market, as well as the identification of the most sought-after fundamental and specific competences, given the reality of the professionals. Thus, the bibliographic review focuses on the events, hospitality, and human resources management context, as well as a quantitative and qualitative empirical research of, respectively, job offers and semi-structured interviews analysis, in hotel and non-hotel companies. The results suggest that, in hotels, there should be a balance between education and experience, however, specific skills have a high weight when hiring.
