Abstract(s)
a estes paradigmas.
The rural tourism in Portugal and around the world it’s increasing significantly and becoming more diversified from the past years. Those changes have modified the tourism offer as well as the tourism destinations. New dynamics and the need to attract, more and new tourists, as well as residents to the interior of the countries, has been a goal for some councils. Ecotourism emerges as a response to these paradigms. Ecotourism is fundamentally developed in rural areas and consists of imminently sustainable and responsible tourism in terms of preserving and protecting the environment. This type of conscious tourism promotes the well-being of the local community. By reducing the impacts caused during the visits the Ecotourism is able to create a positive experience for the tourists as well as the hosts. This project alongside the internship aims to diversify a growing tourism product - ecotourism, through the loyalty of tourists, increasing tourist demand in the village of Góis and providing a sustainable tourism offer. In addition, it plans to make the local products more attractive in a pandemic context. To achieve that, I proposed to have the experience of an internship at the tourism office in the Câmara Municipal de Góis in order to analyze the local tourism and the pandemic transformation. I am focusing on the evaluation of the tourism paradigms, as well as analyzing the carrying capacity of the council to respond to the needs, applying national and international strategies. Firstly, this document is composed of a theory part, where it is contextualized the theme and analyses tourism in rural areas, ecotourism, and tourism in times of pandemic. The second part becomes a bit more practical and intends to report my three-month curricular internship, as well as present the results from my collaborative work with the council and the Góis tourism office. To support my research, we act local activities and interviewed local tourist agents, tourists and Goienses.
