Abstract(s)
It is through the senses that children acquire fundamental information for their development. This information allows not only cognitive evolution, but also emotional and social evolution, contributing to the construction of knowledge and identity as human beings. In the present study, 19 5-year-old children, in the context of Pre-School Education, participated in several activities organized over seven weeks, with the aim of exploring sensory systems. The activities were based on a methodological approach close to Project Work, valuing the interest and active participation of children. Each week was dedicated to a sense, allowing for a deep and experiential exploration, with the mobilization of interactive strategies, such as games, exploration of sensory materials and artistic creations. The results showed that, by mobilizing the five senses, the children not only expanded their knowledge on the subject, but also developed skills such as scientific curiosity and critical reflection. It was found that the project had a positive impact on the way children understand the role of the senses in their learning and interaction with the world, becoming more aware and sensitive to their sensory experiences. In addition, the study highlighted the importance of sensory integration in the child's integral development, promoting meaningful and lasting learning. This project also reinforced the role of the educator in facilitating an environment that favor the active involvement, experimentation and autonomy of children, reinforcing the value of methodologies that place the child as an active participant in their own learning.
