| dc.description.abstract | Uma das principais formas de efectivação do ideal democrático é, precisamente, a partilha ilimitada de conhecimento. Parte da responsabilidade recai sobre os órgãos de comunicação social (OCS), sendo fundamentais na atribuição de significados que permitam a compreensão da realidade social e das instituições que constituem o sistema social. A rádio sempre se distinguiu pela sua simplificação no processo comunicativo, nomeadamente através da difusão de informação compreensível pelos mais desfavorecidos. A actividade policial, principalmente em contextos de grande relevância sociopolítica, é alvo de um escrutínio constante por parte das sociedades hodiernas, essencialmente através da sua mediatização. Desta forma, e para a grande maioria dos indivíduos, os media constituem o principal mediador da realidade das intervenções policiais. Através do recurso a uma abordagem qualitativa e analisando o conteúdo das notícias difundidas pela rádio durante o ano de 2013, interessa perceber as grelhas de compreensibilidade transmitidas por este OCS e que definem a realidade da actuação policial, em contexto de grandes eventos de cariz político. Os resultados evidenciam o enfoque noticioso na descrição e caracterização dos eventos e dos manifestantes em detrimento das razões que estão na origem da sua realização; a ausência da identificação da maioria das fontes policiais enunciadas de forma indirecta; e, ainda, a prevalência de informação respeitante à descrição e às consequências da actuação policial, em detrimento da exposição dos seus motivos. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | One of the main forms of the effective democratic ideal is precisely the unlimited sharing of knowledge. Part of the responsibility falls upon the mass media, being fundamental in the assigning of meanings that allow the understanding of social reality and of the institutions that form the social system. Radio has always distinguished itself by its simplification of the communication process, namely, by the diffusion of the understandable information by the less favoured. Police activity, mainly in the context of major socio-political relevance, is the subject of constant scrutiny on the part of today‟s societies, primarily through its media coverage. In this way and for most people, the media are the main mediators of the reality of police interventions. Through the use of a qualitative approach and by analyzing the content of the news transmitted by the radio throughout 2013, it is important to understand the comprehensibility grids transmitted by these mass media, which define the reality of policing, in the context of major events of a political nature. The results show the news focus on the description and characterization of the events as well as of the protestors in detriment of the reasons that are at the source of why events take place, the absence of identification of the majority of police sources listed in an indirect form and furthermore the prevalence of information concerning the description and the consequences of policing, in detriment of the exposure of their motives. | pt_PT |
