A presente Dissertação de Mestrado tem como tema a caracterização da problemática da
violência doméstica vivenciada por crianças e adolescentes. A violência doméstica ultrapassa os
limites do lar, configurando-se como um grave problema de Direitos Humanos, com impactos
profundos na saúde física e mental das vítimas e diversas ramificações socioeconômicas. "A violência
doméstica é uma violação dos direitos humanos e um grave problema de saúde pública, afetando
milhões de pessoas em todo o mundo e tendo consequências devastadoras para a saúde física, mental
e reprodutiva das vítimas" (Organização Mundial da Saúde [OMS], 2023). Essas consequências afetam
não apenas as vítimas diretas, mas também suas famílias e a comunidade em geral, refletindo-se por
fim em toda a sociedade. Este estudo visa caracterizar a problemática da vitimação em crianças e jovens
que vivem o crime de VD num território o norte de Portugal.
A pesquisa adota uma abordagem quantitativa, recorrendo à análise de dados estruturais para
fornecer uma compreensão abrangente do fenómeno. Entre os métodos utilizados estão levantamento
de dados estatísticos evidenciando uma elevada sintomatologia de ansiedade e depressão. Os resultados
destacam a necessidade de políticas públicas integradas e multidisciplinares, que envolvam saúde,
educação, justiça e assistência social, para prevenir e combater a violência doméstica. A conclusão
enfatiza a importância de intervenções precoces, educação preventiva e apoio psicossocial contínuo,
para romper o ciclo de violência e promover um desenvolvimento saudável para crianças e
adolescentes.
The present master’s Thesis addresses the issue of domestic violence experienced by children and adolescents. Domestic violence extends beyond the confines of the home, constituting a serious human rights problem with profound impacts on the physical and mental health of victims and various socioeconomic ramifications. "Domestic violence is a violation of human rights and a serious public health problem, affecting millions of people worldwide and having devastating consequences for the physical, mental, and reproductive health of victims" (World Health Organization [WHO], 2023). These consequences affect not only the direct victims but also their families and the general community, reflecting throughout society. This study aims to characterize the issue of victimization in children and youth who experience domestic violence (DV) in a territory in northern Portugal. The research adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing structural data analysis to provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. Among the methods used are the collection of statistical data showing high symptoms of anxiety and depression. The results highlight the need for integrated and multidisciplinary public policies, involving health, education, justice, and social assistance, to prevent and combat domestic violence. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of early interventions, preventive education, and continuous psychosocial support, to break the cycle of violence and promote healthy development for children and adolescents.
