Abstract(s)
O envelhecimento provoca alterações estruturais e funcionais no Homem e é
algo que não se pode evitar, ou seja, é uma característica própria da condição humana
que varia de pessoa para pessoa, influenciando o nosso organismo.
A presente investigação surge com o intuito de estudar e aprofundar a
problemática da sexualidade no envelhecimento, pois os idosos são capazes de
continuar a exercer uma vida sexual ativa e envelhecer não significa “morte” nas
questões da sexualidade. Para além disto, esta investigação vai além do estudo genérico
das representações sociais dos idosos, ou seja, estuda as representações sociais das
idosas sobre a sexualidade.
Tendo como objetivo compreender o que significa a sexualidade para as idosas e
identificar os fatores psicossociais que mais influenciam a sexualidade nesta população.
Utilizaram-se metodologias quantitativas e qualitativas, através do principal instrumento
desta investigação que é uma entrevista, sendo que foi aplicada a um grupo de seis
idosas.
Por fim, chega-se à conclusão que as idosas ainda têm atitudes conservadoras
face à sexualidade e apresentam igualmente atitudes pessimistas. Este facto vai ser
comprovado ao longo do desenvolvimento do estudo.
Aging causes structual and functional changes in mankind and is something that can not be avoided, in other words, it is a characteristic of the human condition that varies from person to person, influencing our organism. The present research arises with the intention of studying and deeping the problems in aging, since the elderly are capable of continue to exercise an active sexual life and grow old does not mean "death" in the issues of sexuality. In addition, this investigation, goes beyond the generic study social representations of the elderly, that is, study social representations of the old ladies about sexuality. Aiming to understand what sexuality means for the old ladies, and identify the psychosocial factors that most influence sexuality in this population. Quantitative and qualitative methodologies were used, through the main instrument of this investigation, wich is as interview, being applied to a group of six old ladies. Lastly, it is concluded, that the old ladies still have conservative attitudes about sexuality and also have pessimistic attitudes to. This fact will be verified throughout the development of the study.
