Abstract(s)
Esta investigación pretende que el diálogo entre la arquitectura, la pedagogía y
los espacios infantiles se formalice en un caso real: la rehabilitación de la escuela
“Aurora del Porvenir”. Ésta se ubica en el ayuntamiento de Tomiño y tiene una
gran importancia en la comarca debido a que su construcción fue realizada por
una asociación de emigrantes de Río de Janeiro. Buscaban la alfabetización de la
población para que ésta pudiera tener oportunidades, por lo que el edificio tiene
un gran carácter político‐social.
En la actualidad, se cuestiona si los proyectos de edificios escolares, se
encuentran desvinculados de los métodos de enseñanza y sin tener en cuenta a
los niños. Para ello, en esta investigación se adopta el método Montessori. Éste
busca la autonomía e independencia de los niños, además de dar una gran
importancia al contacto con la naturaleza. Debido a las características del edificio
y de la parcela, se considera este método como el más adecuado a adoptar para
llevar a cabo el proyecto.
La escuela Aurora pertenece al Centro Rural Agrupado (CRA) Mestre Manuel
Garcés, compuesto por doce unitarias. En este proyecto se propone trasladar la
sede del CRA al edificio a rehabilitar, dotándola así de unas instalaciones
adecuadas.
Tras el análisis se pretende desenvolver un proyecto de rehabilitación adecuado
desde el punto de vista de la intervención en el patrimonio y que por su
configuración espacial se adecue a las necesidades de un método específico y que
a su vez tenga en cuenta la interrelación entre el espacio formativo y el desarrollo
del niño, cumpliendo así los objetivos del trabajo.
El método pedagógico que aplica el CRA tiene muchos puntos en común con el
método Montessori, por ello se considera la “escuela modelo” más natural a
adoptar como referencia.
En el CRA se identificará como se aplica el método y se reconocerán los espacios
necesarios, para introducir en el proyecto de rehabilitación, a través de
entrevistas a doce profesores, visitas y levantamientos fotográficos. Dando así
una respuesta más amplia identificando necesidades en situaciones distintas.
Se analizará cómo debe ser el espacio de los niños, centrándose en el color y el
material más adecuados para su desarrollo.
Además, la rehabilitación y todo lo que envuelve las intervenciones en el
patrimonio y el estudio del edificio existente, tanto a nivel histórico como
urbano, entre otros, es otro de los temas que se trata en esta investigación.
Se analizarán tres casos de estudio que se consideran una referencia para esta
investigación.
Tras el análisis se obtendrán las pautas de intervención y el programa del
proyecto. Los temas que se tratan son independientes entre sí, este trabajo
pretende interrelacionarlos para llevar a cabo una propuesta innovadora en el
campo de la arquitectura a través de la rehabilitación.
Esta disertación se divide en dos partes: piezas escritas y piezas diseñadas. En la
primera, se encuentra la investigación en el ámbito del proyecto, fundamentación
para la ejecución de las piezas diseñas, parte en la que se encuentran el proyecto
base y ejecución.
Abstract: The purpose of this research is to create a dialogue between architecture, pedagogy and children´s spaces to become a real case: rehabilitation of Aurora del Porvenir´s School. It is located at the council estate in Tomiño and it is very important in the region because it was built by an emigrant association from Rio de Janeiro. Their goal was the alphabetization of the population in this area to have opportunities. For this reason, the building has an important political and social character. Nowadays, there is a debate on whether educational buildings are lacking educational methods and they don´t care about children. That is why this research can use the Montessori´s method. This method will allow their independent and their contact with nature will improve. Due to the features of the building and the location, this method is the most appropriate for the place. The Aurora’s school belongs to the Centro Rural Agrupado (CRA) Mestre Manuel Garcés, with a total of twelve schools. This Project consists in moving the CRA´s headquarters to this building for having all the facilities that it needs. After this analysis, it intends to develop a rehabilitation project, thinking about the heritage. Its spatial configuration needs to be involved in a specific method. There is an interrelation between the formative space and the development of the child, achieving the objectives of the project. The pedagogical method of CRA is very similar with the Montessori Method. For this reason, the “pattern school” is the best option to be used as the reference. After studying the method of the CRA, the different areas to be introduced in the rehabilitation project will be identified. This will be helped by interviewing twelve teachers, visiting the schools and taking photos. As such, each school will be given the best response for different situations. It will analyse the space needed by the children, focus on the most adequate colour and material for their development. Furthermore, the historical level and the urban level will both be taken into account in this research to aid in the rehabilitation. It will analyse three study cases that will be considered as reference for the research. Before the analysis, it will use the guidelines for the intervention and the program of the project. The issues are independent between them, but in this dissertation, it will try to join them to make an innovative proposal in the architectural field through the rehabilitation.
