| dc.description.abstract | Os problemas de locomocĢ§aĢo dos cavalos saĢo uma das principais causas de consultas veterinaĢrias. Os Trigger Points, que saĢo aĢreas localizadas hipersensiĢveis no tecido muscular, acompanhadas de noĢdulos palpaĢveis, contribuem para a dor miofascial. Apesar da extensa investigacĢ§aĢo sobre o tema, os mecanismos exactos subjacentes ao desenvolvimento dos Trigger Points permanecem especulativos. Esta dissertacĢ§aĢo tem como objetivo enumerar os Trigger Points, a sua fisiologia e etiologia, identificar os principais Trigger Points nos membros anteriores dos cavalos, o seu impacto nos exames fiĢsicos dos cavalos e explorar as teĢcnicas terapeĢuticas utilizadas para tratar os Trigger Points, aliviar a dor e restaurar o desempenho desportivo dos cavalos. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Locomotion issues in horses are a primary cause for veterinary consultations. Trigger points, are hypersensitive localized areas within muscle tissue accompanied by palpable nodules, contribute to myofascial pain. Despite extensive research on the topic, the precise mechanisms underlying trigger point development remain speculative. This dissertation aims to enumerate trigger points, their physiology and etiology, identify the main trigger points in the forelimbs of horses, their impact on physical examinations of horses, and explore therapeutic techniques used to treat trigger points, to alleviate pain, and restore the horsesā sporting performance. | pt_PT |
