Abstract(s)
Locomotion issues in horses are a primary cause for veterinary consultations. Trigger points, are hypersensitive localized areas within muscle tissue accompanied by palpable nodules, contribute to myofascial pain. Despite extensive research on the topic, the precise mechanisms underlying trigger point development remain speculative. This dissertation aims to enumerate trigger points, their physiology and etiology, identify the main trigger points in the forelimbs of horses, their impact on physical examinations of horses, and explore therapeutic techniques used to treat trigger points, to alleviate pain, and restore the horsesā sporting performance.
