profissional com relatório (Módulo I – 15 ECTS e Módulo II – 30 ECTS). A primeira secção do
This professional internship report, oriented toward the development of both general and specific competencies of the Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing, within the domain of Nursing Care for the Person in Critical Condition (PCC), is aligned with the applicable standards of the Portuguese Ordem dos Enfermeiros and the Master's degree competency framework as defined by the regulations of the Escola Superior de Enfermagem do Porto (ESEP). The thematic guiding the learning process was the promotion of tissue perfusion in critically ill patients. This report documents the academic and clinical journey undertaken as part of the Master’s Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, within the PCC specialization, at ESEP during the academic years 2023/2024 and 2024/2025. This document results from the work carried out in the professional internship curricular units with report components (Module I – 15 ECTS and Module II – 30 ECTS). The first section offers a comprehensive characterization of the three clinical settings involved in the internship: a Medical-Surgical Emergency Department, a General Intensive Care Unit, and a General Intermediate Care Unit. The second section presents a detailed case study directly related to the central theme of the internship, emphasizing the design and provision of nursing care. The third section discusses the contributions of the internship activities to the acquisition and consolidation of core competencies. The experience enabled the effective development and refinement of the targeted competencies, as well as the successful achievement of the proposed learning objectives. Promoting tissue perfusion in critically ill individuals is a highly relevant and impactful area within the scope of care provided to the PCC population, making it a pertinent and enriching subject for advanced clinical learning. This experience marked a crucial milestone in my professional and academic journey, and on a personal level, as it promote the acquisition of a set of tools and knowledge that will undoubtedly serve as essential pillars in my future nursing practice and in the continued pursuit of excellence in the quality of care provided.
