Abstract(s)
permitam garantir a integridade do nosso território.
Obus M114.
Abstract Portugal, as a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, one of the world largest organizations, should be able to meet its commitments to ensure that its military units meet the goals set out in terms of weapons and equipment. So it is important to monitor the arms development to ensure that we are a reliable partner and that we have means to secure the integrity of our territory. This Applied Research Work entitled "Self-propelled Howitzers versus Towed. Case study on the acquisition of a Field Artillery Weapon System to the Intervention Brigade", focuses on the Field Artillery Medium Forces. This issue is particularly relevant once this unit may not be in a position to fulfil its operational liabilities that are required by the current Operatinal Environments. This study is very important at a time when the Armed Forces Planning and Regulation Law has just been revised. This research seeks to analyse major Weapons Systems, Self-Propelled and Towed, that exist in the international market, comparing four weapons systems, two Towed and two Self-Propelled, with the operational requirements defined to the Intervention Brigade, based on NATO Targets, aiming to reach a sustainable alternative to replace the M114 howitzer.
