Abstract(s)
This report portrays the increasingly emerging need to focus our attention on family caregivers of people with serious mental illness. The problem of burdening families of users with schizophrenia is a very present reality, demonstrated not only by scientific evidence, but also in work contexts. One of the ways to intervene is through family psychoeducation, which becomes an essential complement to the psychosocial rehabilitation of the person with this pathology. This report reflects the work carried out during the internship of a master's student at the Department of Mental Health Psychiatry, in which a project aimed at families of users with schizophrenia was developed and implemented. Seven families were covered, and the FPQ (Family Problems Questionnaire) was applied before and after the intervention. The specialist nurse plays a fundamental role, facilitating the transition processes, evidenced by the reduction in levels of family overload (related to the objective and subjective overload of the FPQ).
