Hodiernamente, é natural que a informação chegue aos indivíduos sem esforço, existe uma exposição constante aos Órgãos de Comunicação Social (OCS), sendo considerado que é sua responsabilidade informar e educar o público. No entanto, a informação apresentada ao público mostra a representação feita pelos OCS da realidade que observam o que, mediante o seu objectivo, convicções e motivações, pode gerar enviesamentos. Existe um forte potencial de influência no público, afectando o modo como os assuntos e a própria sociedade são interpretados, o que consequentemente afectará a construção mental que é feita pelos indivíduos sobre a realidade social em que se inserem. A Polícia, enquanto instituição com papel activo na sociedade está sujeita à apreciação e relato dos media que, ao influenciarem o público, levam à criação de uma imagem social da actuação policial e da própria organização. Revela-se, desta forma, interessante perceber que tipo de discurso é adoptado no que concerne à Polícia e à actividade policial. Recorrendo a uma abordagem qualitativa foi analisado o conteúdo das notícias emanadas pela Agência Lusa, agência noticiosa portuguesa que difunde informação para os diversos OCS, durante o ano de 2013, relativa à actuação policial em grandes eventos políticos. Analisou-se o universo de notícias procurando descrever e caracterizar o discurso jornalístico, destacando, assim, os esquemas interpretativos emitidos, que irão fornecer grelhas de compreensibilidade para os elementos da sociedade. Os resultados obtidos revelam que o discurso é bastante factual, no entanto é possível verificar processos como, framing e priming. A perspectiva mais explorada e enfatizada é a dos manifestantes e da própria manifestação, podendo levar o público a atentar mais nestas questões, desvalorizando outras.
In our times, it is natural that the information gets to individuals effortlessly, there is a constant exposure to the media, which are considered responsible for informing and educate the public. However, the information presented to the public show the media‟s view, made their reality, purpose, beliefs and motivations, which can generate biases. The media have a strong potential to influence the public, affecting how subjects are interpreted and society itself, which consequently affect‟s the mental construction that is made by individuals on the social reality in which they live. The police, as an institution that plays an active role in society, is subject of the assessment and reporting of the media which, by influencing the public, can lead to the creation of a social image of policing and police. It is, therefore, interesting to understand what kind of speech is adopted about police and policing. Using a qualitative approach weanalysed the contents of the newsbroadcasted by Lusa, the Portuguese news agency that disseminates information to the media, during the year 2013, on the police action on major political events. We analyzed the universe of news trying to describe and characterize the journalistic speech, thus highlighting the interpretive schemes given, which will provide understanding schemes to the elements of society. The results show that the speech is quite factual, however it can check processes such as framing and priming. The most explored and emphasized perspective is the protesters and manifestation itself, that may lead the public to attend more on these issues, devaluing others.
