Abstract(s)
Os jovens são um dos vários grupos sociais com os quais os Polícias da Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP). Inseparáveis das relações inerentes à vida em sociedade, são as perceções avaliativas que surgem relativamente aos Polícias e à sua atuação, sendo as dos jovens importantes e peculiares, tanto por poderem definir as suas atitudes enquanto adultos, como por poderem afetar a disponibilidade destes em cooperar com os Polícias. Para uma melhor compreensão do tema em estudo, desenvolve-se, na presente investigação, o construto das atitudes no âmbito da Psicologia Social, procurando-se, posteriormente, explorar e esclarecer os fenómenos no tecido social responsáveis pela construção e formação das atitudes dos jovens relativamente aos Polícias da PSP.
Os resultados obtidos permitem concluir que, considerando os jovens que interagiram direta e indiretamente com os Polícias, a satisfação com as interações indiretas e diretas com os Polícias são as variáveis que mais influenciam as atitudes gerais e perceções sobre a imparcialidade relativamente aos mesmos, constatando-se também que as atitudes gerais mais positivas contribuem para uma maior disponibilidade dos jovens em cooperar com os Polícias, mas as perceções sobre a imparcialidade não.
Youth is one of the several social groups with whom the policemen from Polícia de Segurança Pública. Inseparable from the relations inherent to social life are the evaluative perceptions that arise concerning the policemen and their practices, being those of the youth important and peculiar, both because they can define their attitudes as adults and because they can affect their willingness to cooperate with the police. For a better understanding of the subject under study, the present research develops the construct of attitudes within the scope of Social Psychology, subsequently exploring and clarifying the phenomena in the social fabric responsible for the construction and formation of attitudes towards the policemen of PSP, to be able to analyse the influence of these variables on the general attitudes and on perceptions of bias, and to understand which ones have the biggest impact. The results obtained allow us to conclude that, considering the youth who interacted both directly and indirectly with the police, satisfaction with the indirect and direct contacts with police are the variables that most influence general attitudes and perceptions of bias toward them, also finding that more positive general attitudes contribute to a greater willingness of youth to cooperate with police officers, while perceptions of bias do not.
