Abstract(s)
Atualmente verifica-se um aumento do número de idosos na população portuguesa e são constantes os desafios do sistema de saúde para lhes proporcionar uma boa qualidade de vida (QdV). A abordagem do conceito de QdV refere-se a diferentes aspetos da vida como o grau de satisfação perante a vida familiar, perante a vida ambiental, social, amorosa, existencial, relacionada com o bem-estar do indivíduo, valores individuais e em grupo.
Sendo a condição oral um dos principais critérios para classificar a qualidade de vida no doente, o presente estudo tem como objetivo abordar a autopercepção dos pacientes desdentados totais e parciais reabilitados com próteses removíveis, bem como os instrumentos existentes para recolher e classificar os resultados da sua percepção de saúde oral e impacto na qualidade de vida.
Para melhor planear o tratamento reabilitador com próteses removíveis é necessário perceber quais são as maiores preocupações e exigências terapêuticas dos pacientes. Este é o passo inicial para executar um tratamento de sucesso e para isso, os instrumentos que avaliam o impacto de saúde oral na qualidade de vida, devem ser estudados e analisados.
Posto isto, o uso de próteses removíveis deve ser uma opção de tratamento reabilitador que visa, não só a melhora clínica do paciente, como também a melhoria na sua qualidade de vida.
Nowadays, the rise of the proportion of elders in the Portuguese population is known. Consequently, the health system is on challenging situation to provide the elder a good quality of life (QoL). The approach of the concept of QoL attribute to different life perspectives such as satisfaction level regarding familiar, social, love, existential life related with the individual well-being, self and community values. The oral condition is one the main features to classify the patient’s quality of life. This study has the objective to provide information about the self-perception of full and partial edentulous patients as well as the existent devices used to collect and assess the results that illustrates the oral health perception and the impact on quality of life. To improve the planning of the rehabilitation treatment with removable prosthesis, it is necessary to have the discernment which are the patients biggest medical demands and worries. This is the first step to initiate the treatment with success and for that the devices have to be studied and analyzed. Hence, the removable prosthetic rehabilitation should be a treatment option that does not only aim the clinical condition improvement of the patient, but also the enhancement of the QoL.
