Abstract(s)
Abstract:
With the growth of women activiries on several society concepts, the defination of gender equality is becoming a central point in today's society. Portugal, being a member of NATO, UN and UE, and as a result of the guidelines created, has implemented some projects that define different objectives within timeframe and working areas. One of the areas that points out are the Armed Forces, specially the Air Force that, as an independent branch, has a key role in enforcing these rules. Taking this into consideration, there is a need to understand how the AF can enhance and become a reference in gender equality by implementing a greater number of national and international recommendations. This work is based on a hypothetical-dedutive methodology, through a quantitative strategy with qualitative reinforcement, and a research design supported in a case study whose object of study is the Air Force itself. From the analysis of the data obtained from the survey and the interviews carried out, it was found that the AF is on the right track as far as gender equality is concerned, but there is room for improving its strategy in this area.
