Abstract(s)
enviesamento policial.
In carrying out their duties, police officers interact with various social groups, young people being no exception. These interactions influence attitudes towards the police, which is pertinent to discuss in a context where trust in public institutions tends to be lower among young people. This dissertation explores the construct of attitudes and the factors that contribute to their formation in the context of the relationship between young people and the police. Based on an online questionnaire, the data was analysed using SPSS and AMOS software, in order to assess the impact of variables such as age, gender, belonging to socially disadvantaged groups, quality of life, fear of victimization and direct or indirect contact with police officers on young people's attitudes. The results show that general attitudes towards the police tend to be positive, although neutral in terms of perceived impartiality; while young people belonging to socially disadvantaged groups tend to show less positive and even negative general attitudes towards police bias.
