Abstract(s)

Este artigo foca os processos usados por um aluno de 7º ano – o Alberto - na resolução de tarefas estatísticas. Analisa-se o modo como o Alberto resolve um conjunto de situações propostas em três entrevistas – a primeira realizada antes do estudo da unidade Estatística, a segunda imediatamente após este estudo e a terceira três meses depois – procurando identificar as estratégias usadas pelo Alberto na resolução de tarefas de Estatística e verificar a sua permanência quando métodos ou estratégias mais sofisticados lhe são ensinados. A análise dos dados recolhidos permitiu concluir que várias das estratégias usadas pelo Alberto correspondem ao uso de um conjunto de procedimentos que prevalecem após o trabalho em torno do tema Estatística. Identificou-se ainda a tendência para compreender instrumentalmente vários conceitos estatísticos e a dificuldade em analisar, interpretar e comunicar informação.

This article focuses the processes that Alberto – a 7th grade student – uses to solve statistical tasks. It is analysed the way Alberto solves a set of situations proposed in three interviews – the first one conducted just before the study of Statistics, the second one immediately after this study and the third one three months lather – and identified how the strategies that he uses changed after the teaching experience. Data analysis showed that some of the strategies used by Alberto correspond to processes that continue to be used after the study of Statistics. It was also identified a tendency to associate several statistics concepts with the use of formulae and the difficulty to analyse, interpret, and communicate information.
