impulsionar a competitividade estratégica.
PME.
Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are essential for global economic development. In this context, the analysis and the implementation of analytical cost centres becomes vital to boost strategic competitiveness. This quantitative study delves into the relevance of analytical cost centres in strategic decision-making in SMEs, highlighting their benefits and the challenges of their implementation. The results show that analytical cost centres play a crucial role in the ability of SMEs to compete effectively in the market. For example, by implementing cost analysis systems, an SMEs can quickly identify areas of poor performance and opportunities for optimization. This hands-on approach not only improves operational efficiency but also allows for a more agile response to market changes, conferring a significant competitive advantage. In addition, by leveraging insights from analytics cost centres, SMEs can make more informed strategic decisions, such as redirecting investments to areas of higher return, cost analysis and optimization, as well as developing more competitive pricing strategies. The analysis of the data shows that most respondents recognize the importance of these cost centres to optimize processes, identify growth opportunities and allocate resources efficiently, increasing their internal knowledge. This insight underlines the need for a robust analytical approach to guide business strategies and maximize the growth potential of SMEs. However, the investigation also identifies challenges, such as financial constraints, a lack of skilled professionals, and technical knowledge gaps. Despite these obstacles, a proactive approach and an investment in training and technology can help SMEs overcome these challenges and fully reap the benefits of analytical cost centres. To summarise, this research emphasizes the critical importance of analytical cost centres for SMEs and the urgent need to invest in analytical capabilities. These findings have significant implications for management and business leaders, emphasising the urgent need to invest in analytical capabilities, to ensure the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs.
