| dc.description.abstract | Este estudo investiga o impacto da dissolução da Aliança 2M entre a Maersk Line e a Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) no mercado português, com foco no Porto de Sines. Através de uma revisão abrangente da literatura, entrevistas e questionários feitos a profissionais do setor, o estudo avalia o impacto que esta dissolução terá no mercado português, bem como as estratégias que ambas as empresas adotarão a partir de janeiro de 2025. A pesquisa utilizou uma abordagem qualitativa, que incluiu a revisão de literatura e entrevistas com especialistas da indústria. Os resultados demonstram que o setor de transporte marítimo global passará por mudanças significativas, com ambas as empresas a prepararem-se para adotar estratégias distintas, enquanto mantêm uma sólida presença no mercado. Conclui-se que a dissolução da 2M terá um impacto moderado no setor marítimo em Portugal, com a MSC a reforçar as suas operações no Porto de Sines, e a Maersk a manter uma forte presença nos portos de Lisboa e Leixões, reconfigurando as suas operações através da nova aliança Gemini Cooperation. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | This study investigates the impact of the dissolution of the 2M Alliance between Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) on the Portuguese market, with a specific focus on the Port of Sines. Through a comprehensive literature review, interviews, and surveys with industry professionals, the study evaluates the effect of this dissolution on the Portuguese market, as well as the strategies both companies plan to adopt starting in January 2025. The research followed a qualitative approach, including literature review and interviews with key industry figures. Case study analysis was crucial to understanding the implications of the alliance’s dissolution. The results demonstrate a shift in the global maritime transport landscape, with both companies preparing to implement distinct strategies while maintaining a strong market presence. It is concluded that the dissolution of the 2M Alliance will have a moderate impact on the maritime sector in Portugal, with MSC strengthening its operations in Sines, and Maersk maintaining a strong presence in Lisbon and Leixões, reconfiguring its operations through the Gemini Cooperation. | pt_PT |
