Abstract(s)
The elaboration of this report is aimed at presenting conclusions obtained during the internship at the Nacional Music Museum (Museu Nacional da Música). In a constantly changing museologic world, the main focus was to figure out how to practically apply management studies to this field: finding systems and structures that preserve the essence of the collections and their museum’s objectives, mainly through sustainable policies of resource management. This museum has suffered countless changes since its’ creation. My effort in revising relevant literature aspires to help define pathways that achieve previously mentioned goals and value an heritage oft-times forgotten and underestimated by political parties. Consequentially, several different kinds of proposal will be presented including improved sustainability, future alternatives to management and ambitious executive programs. It is important to recall that the museum has a certain degree of state-ownership. On that account, many of the aforementioned proposals will only be feasible after significant changes in policies and an hefty government investment.
