| dc.description.abstract | A criminalidade urbana é uma realidade persistente nas sociedades contemporâneas. No âmbito da prevenção criminal e situacional do crime, para fazer face a este fenómeno, alguns países têm vindo a implementar sistemas dotados de inteligência artificial que conjugam sensores inteligentes, iluminação e videovigilância. A presente investigação teve como propósito aferir a perceção dos cidadãos de Lisboa relativamente à implementação de infraestruturas inteligentes de segurança urbana, considerando o impacto no sentimento de segurança, na aceitação social e nas implicações para a privacidade. Para tal, realizou-se um estudo quantitativo com recurso à análise de um inquérito por questionário aplicado a 162 colaboradores do Centro Cultural de Belém. Os dados recolhidos foram tratados mediante a análise estatística e os seus resultados denotam uma atitude extremamente positiva face à adoção destes sistemas. Verificou-se que os participantes reconhecem suma relevância destes sistemas no reforço do sentimento de segurança, considerando ainda insuficiente a sua implementação atual. A perceção de risco para a privacidade não se verificou significativa. Complementarmente, realizaram-se duas entrevistas semiestruturadas a especialistas na área das tecnologias de segurança, as quais tiveram como objetivo aprofundar o estudo. A análise das mesmas suportou-se por uma análise temática, que revelou resultados que reforçam os obtidos pela metodologia quantitativa. A investigação contribui para o reforço do conhecimento empírico relativo à aceitação social de soluções inteligentes de segurança urbana em Lisboa, podendo apoiar as políticas públicas e estratégias institucionais orientadas para a integração responsável de tecnologias baseadas em inteligência artificial no domínio da segurança urbana. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Urban crime is a persistent reality in contemporary societies. In the context of crime prevention and situational crime control, some countries have been implementing artificial intelligence-enabled systems that combine smart sensors, lighting and video surveillance to tackle this phenomenon. The aim of this research was to assess the perceptions of Lisbon’s citizens regarding the implementation of smart urban security infrastructure, considering the impact on the sense of security, social acceptance and implications for privacy. To this end, a quantitative study was conducted using the analysis of a questionnaire survey administered to 162 employees of the Belém Cultural Centre. The data collected were processed using statistical analysis, and the results indicate an extremely positive attitude towards the adoption of these systems. It was found that participants recognise the great importance of these systems in enhancing the sense of security, whilst considering their current implementation to be insufficient. The perceived risk to privacy was not found to be significant. In addition, two semi-structured interviews were conducted with experts in the field of security technologies, with the aim of deepening the study. The analysis of these findings was supported by a thematic analysis, which revealed results that reinforce those obtained through the quantitative methodology. The research contributes to strengthening empirical knowledge regarding the social acceptance of smart urban security solutions in Lisbon, and may support public policies and institutional strategies aimed at the responsible integration of artificial intelligence-based technologies in the field of urban security. | eng |
