Abstract(s)
As Casas de Acolhimento Residencial têm como principal função garantir o
desenvolvimento saudável e pleno das crianças e jovens que nela estão acolhidas. Para que isto
seja possível é essencial que todas as áreas de desenvolvimento destas crianças e jovens sejam
abordadas e trabalhadas. Casa. Sendo a intimidade e a sexualidade áreas importantes e
indissociáveis ao desenvolvimento humano, não devem ser descuradas, especialmente na
adolescência. É fulcral que as várias questões associadas as estas temáticas, como a educação
sexual, os direitos sexuais, a homossexualidade e a homofobia, sejam debatidas com os jovens,
objetivando-se proporcionar-lhes uma vivência integra da sua intimidade e sexualidade, bem
como, futuros adultos formados, conscientes e responsáveis no que diz respeito a estas.
O presente trabalho compreende-se num Relatório de Estágio realizado no âmbito do
Mestrado em Intervenção Social na Infância e Juventude em Risco de Exclusão Social. O
Estágio decorreu numa Casa de Acolhimento Residencial, do sexo masculino, no Centro
Litoral, tendo como principais problemáticas as questões da intimidade, sexualidade e
comportamentos sexuais associados a jovens institucionalizados, bem percecionar o trabalho
exercido pelos profissionais no que diz respeito à intimidade e sexualidade em contexto
institucional. Em momento algum deste relatório será mencionado o nome da instituição onde
decorreu o estágio, por uma questão de salvaguardar a privacidade e anonimato da mesma, e de
todos os que nela habitam e/ou trabalham.
Tendo em consideração os temas destacados anteriormente, ao longo do período de
estágio pretendia-se compreender como é que estes são trabalhados dentro de uma instituição
de acolhimento residencial, bem como quais as práticas dos profissionais aquando de
comportamentos sexuais por parte dos jovens. É importante mencionar que o estágio consistia
também em potencializar os conhecimentos e desenvolver dos jovens no que concerne a
questões de intimidade e sexualidade, com recurso a atividades lúdicas, assim como, contribuir
de forma positiva para o melhoramento da abordagem dos profissionais com os jovens no que
concerne a estas temáticas.
Com recurso a entrevistas aos profissionais da instituição, a questionários realizados aos
jovens, e à observação participante como técnicas de recolha de dados, foi possível reunir
informação necessária para cumprir os objetivos deste trabalho. Estes instrumentos permitiram compreender que é necessário melhorar as abordagens dos profissionais no que respeita aos temas da intimidade e sexualidade, tal como é imperativo que se providencie mais conhecimento e consciencialize os jovens para estas questões.
Foster care homes' main function is to guarantee a full and healthy development of all children taken in. For this to happen, it is essential that all development areas of these children and young people are discussed and worked on. Intimacy and sexuality are important areas, undissociable from human development, and cannot be disregarded, specially in during teenage years. Important questions related to matters such as sexual education, sexual rights, homosexuality and homophobia, to be debated amongst these children and teenagers, in order to provide them a full living of their intimacy and sexuality. Also, this potentiates their development as educated adults, responsible and aware of these matters in life. This internship report is part of a Masters Degree in Social Intervention in Children and Teenagers in Risk of Social Exlcusion. The internship was performed in a Foster Care Home, reserved to young men, in the coastal center region of Portugal. Its main goal was to approach intimacy issues, questions related to sexuality and sexual behaviours associated to institutionalized young men, as well as to acquire notions of the work performed by professionals of these institutions, in what concerns intimacy and sexuality in and institutional context. Having into account the previous mentioned topics, during the internship it was analyzed how these are approached inside of a foster care institution, as well as the professional response towards sexual manifestations of young insitutionalized men. It is important to mention that the worked perfomed during the internship also seeked to provide knowledge and awareness in intimacy and sexual related issues through playful activities, as well as to contribute for the improvement of the involved professionals' approach towards young men regarding these topics. The objectives of this work were achieved using results from interviews performed with professionals of the referred institution, surveys delivered to young institutionalized men and by presential observation and data gathering techniques. These resources allowed to conclude that it is necessary to improve the involved professionals' approaches towards young institutionalized men, regarding intimacy and sexuality issues, as well as to better prepare and give insight to these young men about these life matters.
