Devido ao crescente número de crimes participados assim como à onda de insegurança que se faz sentir na nossa sociedade e a reivindicação da população por mais segurança, apraz à Polícia de Segurança Pública inovar no combate ao crime, na diminuição do sentimento de insegurança e o asseverar de uma necessidade colectiva indiscutível - o Direito à Segurança.
É com base nisto que a Polícia de Segurança Pública aposta nas novas tecnologias, como meios auxiliares de prevenção criminal, nomeadamente na implementação de Sistemas de Videovigilância.
Mas serão estes sistemas um meio limitativo de Direitos Fundamentais e até que ponto essa limitação é exequível? Qual o balanço a encontrar
Due to the increasing number of registered crimes as well as the insecurity wave that is felt in our society and the population‟s claims for more security, it is the responsibility of the Public Security Police to create new methods to fight against crime, to minimize the insecurity feeling and to assure the collective and undoubted need - the Right to Security. Based on this principle, the Public Security Police invests in new technologies such as auxiliary means of crime prevention, particularly in the implementation of video surveillance systems. But are these systems a way of limiting fundamental rights and to what extent is this limitation feasible? How to find the balance between the Right to Security and the Right to privacy?
