O turismo, os eventos e a educação apresentam entre si uma forte ligação que se encontra cada vez mais percetível. O turismo e, nomeadamente, o setor dos eventos tem a capacidade de proporcionar aos indivíduos diversas experiências que visam promover o seu desenvolvimento, especialmente no que às competências individuais diz respeito.
A presente investigação tem como objetivo principal compreender quais os contributos dos eventos culturais e de lazer para o desenvolvimento socioeducativo dos alunos do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Para dar resposta a este objetivo foi conduzida uma investigação empírica utilizando uma metodologia mista de recolha de dados, através de análise documental e da aplicação de inquéritos por questionário a professores do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Desta forma, foi possível analisar o papel dos eventos culturais e de lazer enquanto ferramenta de desenvolvimento socioeducativo e enquanto recurso pedagógico e assim compreender o modo como estes podem assumir um papel ativo e fundamental na educação.
Tourism, events and education have a strong connection that is increasingly noticeable. Tourism, and namely the events sector provides diverse experiences to its participants which aim to foster their development, especially regarding personal skills. The present research has the main objective to understand which are the contributions of cultural and leisure events for the socio-educational development of students of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. In order to meet this objective, an empirical investigation was conducted using a mixed data collection methodology, through document analysis and the application of surveys to teachers of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. This has enabled the analysis of the role of cultural and leisure events as a tool for socio-cultural development and as a pedagogical resource and also the understanding of how they can take an active and fundamental role in education.
