Abstract(s)
A promoção do
Obtaining a Master's degree and the title of Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist requires developing the competencies outlined in the Dublin descriptors for the second cycle of education and the competencies specified by the Order of Nurses. This journey started by selecting the area of interest for development, focusing on the intervention of specialized nurses in rehabilitation nursing to promote physical exercise among older adults. This was followed by an internship project in which the objectives and activities to be developed were outlined. The last few decades have been characterized by profound demographic changes, mainly due to an increase in longevity and a reduction in the birth rate. Promoting active and healthy aging could be the answer to the challenges posed by an aging population. Promoting physical exercise in older adults is an autonomous intervention for nurses specializing in rehabilitation nursing, and their work in this area could significantly affect society. To support the intervention during the internship, the Theory of Functional Consequences developed by Carol Miller was selected as the basis for the nurse's intervention. This theory assumes that nurses intervene in the negative effects of age-related changes and risk factors, promoting positive functional consequences and enabling people to achieve improved functionality, quality of life, and a sense of well-being. This report aims to describe, analyze, and reflect on the competencies developed throughout the internship, based on the competencies defined by the Order of Nurses for the award of the professional title of nurse specializing in rehabilitation nursing and their articulation with the Dublin descriptors for the 2nd cycle of teaching to obtain a Master's degree.
