dc.description.abstractO presente estudo assume, como problemática, o contributo das aprendizagens realizadas em Universidades da Terceira Idade (UTI) na promoção de um envelhecimento ativo. De entre as distintas temáticas, optou-se pela gerontologia educativa, mais concretamente pela frequência e dinâmica das UTI e seus impactos. Procurou-se, com o desenvolvimento da presente investigação, dar mais um contributo no sentido de alargar o conhecimento que tem vindo a ser construído relativamente à importância das UTI na vida de quem as frequenta. A investigação decorreu na Universidade Sénior de Elvas (USE) apresentando, como objetivo, compreender a forma como as aprendizagens realizadas nas UTI se traduzem no quotidiano dos seniores, tendo em consideração os pilares do envelhecimento ativo: saúde, participação social, segurança. Com a realização de oito entrevistas semiestruturadas e, com recurso à observação direta, compreendeu-se os benefícios das (novas) aprendizagens no quotidiano dos seniores e aferiu-se as alterações na vida dos indivíduos, como consequência das aprendizagens efetuadas na USE. A participação na USE possibilita que os seniores expressem as suas opiniões, contribuindo para a promoção de um sentimento de valorização pessoal, para que sejam estabelecidas relações interpessoais dentro e fora do contexto da UTI, combatendo a solidão e o isolamento social que alguns idosos vivenciam.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe present study assumes the problematic, the contribution of the learning carried out in Universities of the Third Age (UTA) promoting an active aging. Among the different themes, educational gerontology was chosen, more specifically the frequency and dynamics of the UTA and their impacts. With the development of the present investigation, we have tried to make a further contribution to broaden the knowledge that has been built regarding the importance of UTA’s in the lives of those who attend them. The research was carried out at the Senior University of Elvas (SUE), aiming to understand how the learning carried out in the UTA translates into the daily life of seniors, taking into account the pillars of active aging: health, social participation and safety. With the accomplishment of eight semistructured interviews and, through direct observation, the benefits of the (new) learning in the daily life of the seniors were understood and the changes in the life of the individuals, as a consequence of the learning realized in the SUE were measured. Participation in SUE, allows seniors to express their opinions, contributing to promoting a sense of personal appreciation, so that interpersonal relationships are established within and outside the UTA context, combating the loneliness and social isolation that some elderly people experience.pt_PT
