Gomes, Paulo; Ferreira, Nelson; Páscoa, Tiago; Jorge, Miguel; Dias, LuísNo período entre 1961 e 1974, as Forças Armadas Portuguesas estiveram empenhadas na defesa dos territórios ultramarinos contra as atividades violentas levadas a cabo pelos diversos movimentos independentistas em três Teatros de Operações (TO), nomeadamente Angola, Guiné e Moçambique. O papel assumido pelas Informações na condução da Guerra Contrasubversiva revestiu-se de importância, tanto para a condução das operações militares como da própria política nacional prevista para estes territórios. Este trabalho foi elaborado no âmbito da Unidade Curricular “Áreas Funcionais”, previsto no plano de curso do Curso de Promoção a Oficial Superior das Armas e Serviços 2016/2017, e teve como principal foco a caracterização das atividades da função de combate informações no TO da Guiné. Pelo estudo efetuado, foi possível confirmar o papel determinante que a função de combate informações desempenhou durante o conflito, implicando a permanente adaptação e atualização da doutrina e de padrões de atuação, na interação entre as entidades civis e militares com responsabilidades neste âmbito e no apoio às restantes funções de combate. Abstract: Between 1961 and 1974, the Portuguese Armed Forces were engaged in the defense of the overseas territories against the violent activities carried out by the various independence movements in three Theaters of Operations (TO), namely Angola, Guinea and Mozambique. The role assumed by the Information in the conduct of the Counter-subversion War was of importance, both for the conduct of military operations and for the national policy foreseen for these territories. This work was elaborated within the scope of the Curricular Unit "Functional Areas", foreseen in the course plan of the Senior Officer Promotion Course 2016/2017, and its main focus was the characterization of the activities of the combat information function in TO of Guinea. Through the study carried out, it was possible to confirm the decisive role that the combat information function played during the conflict, implying the permanent adaptation and updating of doctrine and patterns of action, in the interaction between civil and military entities with responsibilities in this field and in the support Combat functions.
- LemPORT: a High-Accuracy Cross-Platform Lemmatizer for PortuguesePublication . Rodrigues, Ricardo; Oliveira, Hugo Gonçalo; Gomes, PauloAlthough lemmatization is a very common subtask in many natural language processing tasks, there is a lack of available true cross-platform lemmatization tools specifically targeted for Portuguese, namely for integration in projects developed in Java. To address this issue, we have developed a lemmatizer, initially just for our own use, but which we have decided to make publicly available. The lemmatizer, presented in this document, yields an overall accuracy over 98% when compared against a manually revised corpus.

To address this issue, we have developed and tweaked, over the last half-dozen years, NLPPort, a set of tools that can be used in a pipelined fashion, which we have made publicly available. In this paper, we present the major features of such set of tools.
