Abstract(s)
começar a escala industrial.
Deste modo, a
Foram
realizados vários testes, contudo, no presente relatório, serão apresentados apenas sete.
(Melhoria).
The main objective of this report is to present the work developed during the internship carried out in ASCENZA Agro, S.A., for the completion of the Master's course in Biological and Chemical Engineering. All the activities carried out during this internship were based on the theme: "Development of differentiated formulations - Optimization and Innovation in the wet grinding process". The elaboration of a plant protection product is a complex process, divided into several stages. Initially, the Marketing team is responsible for collecting information about the needs of the market. Subsequently, there is the choice of formulation and active substance, and then progress to laboratory-scale development tests, carried out in several stages. The first step is the collection of appropriate co-formulants for the active substance concerned. Then, several laboratory tests are performed until a stable formulation with the desired characteristics is obtained. The next phase will be a scale-up from litres to hundreds of litres before industrial scaling begins. Finally, the packaging, distribution and marketing of the products will take place. The concern with the environment is increasing, and thus the European regulatory authorities have been increasingly demanding to reduce the content of plant protection products used, to ensure greater preservation of the soil and the quality of the residues that are left during and after crops protection. In this way, ASCENZA has been developing tools that allow us to meet the proposed goals. This internship focused on the study of Concentrated Suspension formulations. Several tests were carried out, but in this report only seven will be presented. The same formula was studied, but different parameters were applied like the rotation speed of the equipment used and the grinding time of the mixture, to obtain a formulation with particles in the sub-micron zone. In addition to these changes throughout the tests, some improvements were applied to the formula, to obtain results of physical characteristics within all the specific parameters. The main physical characteristics for validating a plant protection product are suspension, dispersion, laser diffraction particle size, wet grain size, pH, viscosity, foam volume, density, stability after accelerated ageing, equivalent to the shelf life of the product (two years) and stability at 0 ºC, analysis of the active substance content and efficacy in field trials. The different formulations tested were assigned an SAP code name, because they were based on an existing formulation in production at the company. Of all, the ones that showed the greatest potential to move to a larger scale were SAP-8+T (Improvement).
