Abstract(s)
The critical ill patient is inserted in a context of high complexity regarding its approach. The management of interpersonal communication with the person is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship with the caregiver. The existence of multiple barriers in its establishment, incurs in the demand for in-depth knowledge and application of facilitating strategies in its establishment. An action that is in line with the specialized intervention of the nurse. In addition, within the scope of the Curricular Unit Internship with Report of the 11th Master's Degree Course in Nursing in the Specialization Area of People in Critical Condition, the preparation of this document was proposed so as to represent the formative journey of the process of acquisition and development of competencies of specialist and master nurses, in association with the chosen theme: "Enabling" Communication with the critical ill patient. Swanson's Theory of Caring was chosen as the theoretical reference guiding the action. In order to promote a process based on clinical reasoning, scientific evidence and experiential knowledge, the main objective was to develop specialized nursing skills in caring for critical ill patients and their families, to be implemented in emergency and intensive care units. The training process allowed for the mobilization of knowledge based on constant problematization and the development of anticipatory action in caring for the critical ill patient and his/her family, as a measure to improve the quality of care.
