Abstract(s)
Amaral, & Escoval, 2016; Silva, Carvalho & Guedes, 2020
Heart failure proves to be a public health problem with high incidence, which is associated with high morbidity and mortality. It is a clinical syndrome caused by a cardiac functioning anomaly. This condition leads to signs and symptoms that cause changes in the physical and psychological well-being of the person who suffers from it. As a disease of progressive evolution, it causes barriers to the person’s functional capacity, generating limitations in self-care in their daily life (Monteiro et al., 2018; Kemp & Conte, 2012). Thus, this internship report aims to acquire and develop specialized nursing skills in providing care to people with heart failure, having as a theoretical reference of nursing the Self-Care Deficit Theory (Orem, 2001). The document presents the path of acquisition and development of skills to obtain a master’s degree. The Integrative Literature Review was the methodological line that made it possible to identify the nursing interventions that promote the self-care of the person in critical situation with heart failure, determining as specific objectives: Consolidate nursing skills in providing care to person in critical situation with heart failure as well as to the person at risk of organ failure and family; develop specialized nursing skills in providing care to person in critical situation with heart failure and family in the context of emergency and acquire and develop specialized nursing skills in providing care to person in critical situation with heart failure and family in the context of Critical Care Unit. It is found that nursing care through the support-education intervention, using strategies such as teaching, promotes the self-care in the individual design, but also promotes health literacy, contributing to a reduction in hospital readmissions and lower health costs, improving the quality of care provided (Pedro, Amaral, & Escoval, 2016; Silva, Carvalho & Guedes, 2020).
