Abstract(s)
The atrophic and severely resorbed maxilla presents itself as the most complex region for implantology, being considered one of the biggest problems for oral rehabilitation with osseointegrated implants, especially in the posterior region where the pneumatization of the maxillary sinuses contributes to the low bone incidence, this pneumatization causes the reduction of the sinus floor, and consequently, the vertical decrease of the bone remnant. This work aims to review the literature seeking an overview of the possible techniques applicable to cases that present this situation. This narrative review had as search engines: Pubmed, MedLine, Scielo, Google Scholar, Cochrane, foam searches performed in English and Portuguese, the keywords used for research were: atrophic maxilla, maxillary sinus elevation, “sinus lift”, osteogenesis. From the bibliographic research, 162 articles were obtained, after reading the abstract and according to the interest for the research, these were reduced to 52. Of these, 38 were used. Articles were included in order to compare the older techniques with the new ones, and those articles with less relevance were excluded.
