Abstract(s)

The increase in the demand for esthetic appliances has stimulated manufacturers of orthodontic materials to develop alternatives that are increasingly present in the clinical routine of the orthodontist. Thus, removable transparent aligners were developed that emerged with the aim of replacing conventional aesthetic fixed appliances in numerous cases. Therefore, the objective of this review is related to the need to gather the most recent information in a broad comparison of the quality of life in several aspects such as: aesthetics, physical, mental and functional health, self-esteem, comfort, discretion and adequate hygiene. oral treatment among patients with orthodontic treatments performed with removable devices (esthetic aligners), especially the Invisalign ® system, and among those performed with fixed orthodontic appliances. It can be concluded that removable orthodontic aligners are a very important tool for the orthodontist, however they do not completely replace the classic orthodontic device with fixed brackets, and it is up to the orthodontist and the patient to choose the best treatment option according to the real indication and need. from the moment.
